Our Founding Team
- The Waterproof Project was founded by an unlikely trio: Lucas Howard, a seasoned environmental and sustainment consultant from California; Andrew Clay a cultural anthropologist based in the APAC region with a focus on the Philippine nation; and Roderick Manuel], a tech entrepreneur with roots in the growing technology hub of the Dallas Metroplex.
Their paths crossed in a fateful moment at an environmental summit in the heart of the Mexico City, where each was struck by the scale of the water crisis facing communities across the Americas and abroad. Driven by a shared sense of purpose but with very different backgrounds, they saw an opportunity to combine their diverse expertise to address water access on a sustainable, community-focused level.
Together, they have crafted an organization that blends engineering precision, cultural awareness, and digital innovation to empower communities from the rural U.S. to Mexico and South America all the way to the APAC region. Each brings a distinct perspective: Lucas focuses on infrastructure and resource management, Andrew ensures initiatives respect local traditions and knowledge, while Roderick integrates the latest tech solutions to make the work more impactful and accessible. Against the odds, The Waterproof Project has flourished as a beacon of collaboration, leveraging their contrasting skills to build lasting solutions and uplift communities across borders.
